The North is unforgiving
In the North freezing temperatures, salt, and moisture take their heavy toll for almost half of the year. Anything not built to last will fail here faster than anywhere else.
The conclusion is simple: a luminaire that can withstand the North is inevitably better for the environment. It does not end up as waste before its service life is over. It does not require maintenance every third year. It does not consume more energy than necessary.
In this our of work, durability and sustainability are one and the same requirement, expressed in two different words. To ensure quality, we work exclusively with ISO 9001-certified contractors.
Every premature replacement means waste
The majority of a luminaire’s environmental impact stems from two factors: the energy it consumes during lifetime and the materials required for its manufacture. If a luminaire lasts its intended lifespan, the impact of the materials is distributed over twenty years. If it lasts only half that time, the impact doubles—yet this is rarely accounted for.
All our street and underpass luminaires are designed to withstand over 100,000 hours of operation without maintenance (L90B50).
A structure built to endure the elements. The housing, seals, and material choices are engineered for Northern conditions—not for laboratory averages.
Repairability. A repairable luminaire is a more sustainable choice than one that requires replacement. We design all our products to allow for maintenance.
Spare part availability. A spare part is useless if it isn’t available when needed. Assembly in Finland and short supply chains make this a practical reality.
The most responsible kilowatt-hour is the one that is never generated
Good lighting is achieved by controlling light, not by adding more of it.
Light distribution and optics selection. Precise light distribution ensures that all generated light reaches where it is needed, allowing the desired lighting level to be achieved with lower power output. Our range includes optics suitable for virtually any environment, and we also assist with lighting calculations to ensure the best possible outcome.
Light uniformity and glare control. The role of optics is to produce even, pleasant light that allows the eye to see beyond the immediate beam. All our optics come from Finnish manufacturers and are designed from the outset to eliminate stray light and reflections by nearly 100%. Combined with luminaire structures designed to minimize light spill, we deliver uniformity that rivals that of any other manufacturer.
Luminaire control and monitoring. A controlled luminaire does not burn at full power over an empty street. Sensors detect natural light levels and traffic, allowing the system to adjust output according to actual needs. Energy savings can exceed 50% compared to equally powerful, uncontrolled LED luminaires. In addition to energy monitoring, the resulting data can be used for sustainability reporting—providing actual measured figures rather than estimates.
Short supply chains mean both sustainability and risk management
Our luminaires are designed and assembled in Finland, and we use domestic components whenever possible. This is not merely a marketing point, but a practical necessity.
Short supply chain. A short supply chain means less transportation, fewer intermediaries, and reduced uncertainty.
Security of supply. Critical infrastructure cannot rely on a chain that breaks down during a crisis. A road cannot be used if it cannot be seen. Lighting is a component of critical infrastructure, even if it is not always categorized as such.
Finnish expertise. Designing and assembling products in Finland generates jobs, tax revenue, and expertise that remain right where the products are used.
Spare parts guarantee. We commit to providing spare parts for all our luminaires for at least 10 years after delivery.

Honesty is also part of sustainability
Our lighting won’t save the world. It is a piece of infrastructure that consumes energy and requires materials. We do not call our products carbon-neutral or eco-friendly, since fundamentally, no light fixture is either of those things.
What we can promise is something more concrete:
A light fixture that lasts as long as it should, consumes as little energy as possible, and can be repaired if necessary.
